Secretary for the Civil Service Joshua Law conducted home visits in Eastern District today as part of the Celebrations for All project.

In his first community visit since taking office, Mr Law met an elderly couple and an ethnic minority family in North Point to learn about their daily lives and needs.

He also gave them gift packs to share the joy of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Mr Law later visited the Institute of Vocational Education in Chai Wan to learn how its students are trained in a simulated working environment to acquire professional skills.

He was also briefed on the Ming Wah Dai Ha redevelopment project in Shau Kei Wan, which will provide an elderly activity centre and elderly homes upon completion.

Mr Law said the visit enabled him to learn about the district's developments and the needs of locals, which will help in the implementation of Government measures.

He said he will visit other districts to stay in touch with the community.
