Chief Executive CY Leung urges lawmakers to stop filibustering as Hong Kong people denounce this delaying tactic.
Speaking to reporters ahead of an Executive Council meeting today, Mr Leung said numerous opinion polls have shown people do not want Government works to be held up by legislators’ procrastinating.
Some legislators were still trying to hinder the establishment of an Innovation & Technology Bureau using loopholes in the Legislative Council’s rules of procedures, he said.
Mr Leung said there is a global trend to maintaining economic competitiveness through developments in innovation and technology, and Hong Kong rivals are doing this, also.
He reiterated that it is necessary to set up the new bureau to lead and coordinate development in those areas to boost Hong Kong’s economy.
