The Financial Services & the Treasury Bureau has asked the Legislative Council Finance Committee Chairman to extend its February 14 meeting to allow more time for the scrutiny of the Innovation & Technology Bureau proposal.
Speaking to reporters today, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So urged legislators to make good use of the time to pass the proposal.
It is the technology and business sectors' common wish to establish the bureau, he said, urging legislators to co-operate as February 14 is the proposal's deadline.
"We should proactively and constructively move forward and should not allow filibustering to hinder the progress of Hong Kong."
