The Centre for Health Protection has learned of 49 new avian influenza A (H7N9) cases, including nine deaths, in the past six weeks on the Mainland.
They involve 38 men and 11 women aged from one to 88.
Thirty cases are from Fujian, 10 from Zhejiang, seven from Jiangsu, one from Guangdong and one from Xinjiang.
These bring the total number of confirmed H7N9 cases on the Mainland to 555.
