The Centre for Health Protection has learned of four new human cases of avian influenza A (H7N9) in Guangdong, and one H5N1 case in Jiangsu.
The patients are from Shenzhen, Meizhou and Heyuan. Three of them, aged 62 to 83, are hospitalised in critical condition, and a four-year-old boy is stable.
Meanwhile, a human case of avian influenza A (H5N1) affecting a 37-year-old woman in Jiangsu was also reported. She is in critical condition.
This brings the number of reported Mainland H7N9 cases to 500.
