Gov't to continue Lee Bo case

January 26, 2016

The Police have sent another letter to the Guangdong Public Security Department requesting a meeting with bookseller Lee Bo, Chief Executive CY Leung says.

Speaking to reporters ahead of an Executive Council meeting this morning, Mr Leung noted that the Police were informed by Mrs Lee on January 23 that she had met with her husband on the Mainland that day.

He added that the development was announced in a Police press release issued at 2am on January 24 and that officers had sent another written request to Guangdong authorities for a meeting with Mr Lee.

The Chief Executive reiterated that there have been cases in which Hong Kong has requested assistance from Mainland authorities when they have taken even longer to reply than for Mr Lee's case.

The Government will continue to follow up on the case, he added.
