Report underway: Provisional Minimum Wage Commission Chairperson Teresa Cheng says a consensus has been reached on the initial minimum wage level.

Provisional Minimum Wage Commission Chairperson Teresa Cheng says a consensus has been reached on the initial minimum wage level - though the commission is not revealing that figure, yet.

Speaking to reporters this afternoon, Ms Cheng said the commission is preparing a report that it will hand it to the Chief Executive soon.

"Commission members have prudently and objectively studied all factors including overseas experience in implementing minimum-wage systems, stakeholders' views and statistical data. We eventually came up with a conclusion after thorough discussion."

She said the suggestion will be submitted as soon as possible to avoid causing any delay to the legislative procedure.
