Domestic helper food allowance to rise
*
Labour Department

The minimum allowable wage for foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong will remain at $3,580 per month, the Labour Department says.

The food allowance in lieu of free food for them will rise $10 to $750 per month. The new level will apply to all contracts signed from tomorrow.

Contracts signed today or before with the existing food allowance of $740 will still be processed by the Immigration Department provided the applications reach it by September 22.

Employers are free to pay their helpers more than the minimum allowable wage and minimum food allowance.
