Six men aged between 18 and 24 who tried to storm the Legislative Council Complex this morning have been arrested for criminal damage and assaulting a police officer.
The Police today strongly condemned such violent acts that endangered public order.
At about 1am, some protesters tried to force their way into the complex, causing damage to parts of the building. At LegCo's request, Police provided assistance at the scene.
Protesters repeatedly charged at the police cordon line. After officers' advice and warnings were ignored, Police had to take action - including the use of OC foam - to stop them and defend against attack.
Three police officers were injured and sent to hospital for treatment.
The Police reiterated that any acts endangering public order and safety will not be tolerated, and called on people to express their views in a rational and peaceful manner.
