37 arrested in illegal work raids

Immigration and Police officers arrested 32 illegal workers, one overstayer and four employers from August 11 to 13.

 

They raided 18 locations, including restaurants, a packaging factory, a laundry and units under renovation, and arrested 23 illegal workers, one overstayer and four employers.

 

Five men and one woman held recognisance forms, which prohibit employment. Another three women held Hong Kong identity cards.

 

Two men and two women aged 28 to 50 were arrested for employing the illegal workers.

 

Officers also raided Ka Fu Close in Sheung Shui, arresting three Mainlanders for parallel goods trading. The seized goods included milk powder, food, shampoo, medicine, sterilising products and healthcare products.

 

They later raided another 12 locations, including garbage collection points, a commercial building, markets, newspaper stalls and restaurants, arresting six more illegal workers.
