The Centre for Health Protection has announced that from noon yesterday to noon today, two new severe adult influenza cases were recorded. Both patients have died.
It brings the total number of severe adult cases to 482, including 361 deaths.
An additional severe paediatric influenza case was also recorded, bringing total severe paediatric cases to 18, including one death.
The centre expects the winter influenza season to continue in the coming weeks and warned that influenza B virus detections are on the rise. It urged the public to heighten vigilance and get vaccinated early.
