The Centre for Health Protection has announced that from noon yesterday to noon today, three new severe adult influenza cases were recorded. All three patients have died.
It brings the total number of severe adult cases to 474, including 354 deaths.
It also said an elderly home in Wong Tai Sin reported an outbreak, affecting 23 residents, aged 72 to 96.
They have developed a fever, cough and sore throat since January 15. Fourteen of them have tested positive for influenza A (H3) so far. Two men aged 80 and 82 have died.
The centre’s officers have visited the institution and advised measures against respiratory illnesses. It is under medical surveillance.
