Financial Secretary John Tsang today met Kazakhstan President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev and Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev.
Mr Tsang said Kazakhstan and Hong Kong are in excellent locations. Kazakhstan is the hub connecting Asia with Europe while Hong Kong is the gateway to the China market.
Both sides hope to complement each other's strengths through enhanced co-operation.
Mr Tsang met Nazarbayev University students and shared with them the key factors contributing to Hong Kong's development as an international commercial, trade and financial centre.
In Almaty he attended a dinner hosted by Chinese Consul-General Zhang Wei.
