Financial Secretary John Tsang started his Kazakhstan visit in Almaty today.
He is leading a business delegation to strengthen economic and trade ties with the country.
They first met with Air Astana President & Chief Executive Officer Peter Foster who briefed them on the local logistics and aviation industries.
As the vital gateway connecting Europe and Asia, Mr Tsang said Kazakhstan can play an important role in strengthening infrastructure connectivity along the Belt & Road region.
As an international aviation hub, Hong Kong has enormous potential to expand collaboration with Kazakhstan in aviation and logistics, he added.
They later attended a dinner reception in Astana hosted by ATF Bank JSC.
They will continue the visit tomorrow.
