Chief Executive Carrie Lam arrived in Tianjin today to start a three-day visit.
She called on CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee Secretary Li Hongzhong and Tianjin Mayor Wang Dongfeng and attended a dinner held by them.
Mrs Lam congratulated them on hosting the 13th National Games and wished the event a great success.
She said the Hong Kong team’s delegation is the biggest ever, reflecting how important nurturing elite athletes has become to the city.
Mrs Lam also highlighted the close ties between Hong Kong and Tianjin in investment, technology and engineering.
She thanked the Tianjin Municipal Government for its help in establishing the Tianjin Liaison Unit of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
The unit started operating in February and will strengthen ties between the two places.
