Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah today congratulated karatedo athletes Cheng Tsz-man and Hung Ho-wai for winning Hong Kong's first two medals at the 13th National Games.
They won a silver medal and a bronze in the Male Individual Kata event, which took place before the games' official opening.
Mr Lau praised the pair for their outstanding performance, saying their achievement encourages the Hong Kong delegation greatly.
"I hope other athletes from the delegation can perform as brilliantly in the coming events."
Hong Kong has sent 254 athletes to contest in 22 final competitions at the games which will officially run from August 27 to September 8 in Tianjin.
