HK athletes to join National Games

August 10, 2017

Hong Kong is sending 248 athletes to compete in the 13th National Games of the People's Republic of China.

Chief Executive Carrie Lam today presented the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region flag to the delegation at a ceremony at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

Secretary for Home Affairs and head of the delegation Lau Kong-wah received the flag from Mrs Lam.

Mr Lau said the flag presentation ceremony was even more meaningful in the year of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s 20th anniversary.

Noting that local elite athletes have excelled in international mega sports events in recent years, he said he is confident they will try their best and strive for excellence to win glory for Hong Kong in the games.

The event will be held in Tianjin from August 27 to September 8.

Top athletes from across the country will compete in 33 events.
