Long-term view in Policy Address

December 13, 2016

Chief Executive CY Leung will include short and long-term measures in the Policy Address and Budget for the coming year.

Speaking to the media before an Executive Council meeting today, he said the coming Policy Address and Budget will still seek to boost the economy and improve people's livelihood, even though he is not going to seek a second term in office.

"It is not a short-term job to roll out policies according to our vision. Although I am not seeking a second term, the upcoming Policy Address and Budget will be completely the same as the previous ones. There will be both short-term measures as well as medium- and long-term planning for Hong Kong."

He said the coming months will be a busy time for the Government in preparing the Policy Address and Budget.

While the basic content of the Policy Address has been drafted, the Budget's preparation has just started, so the Financial Secretary's resignation will have a great impact on government work, he said.
