SJ visits free trade zone

Bilateral ties:  Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen (left) attends a legal seminar in Shanghai.

Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen today visited the Shanghai free trade zone to see its operation and legal services measures.

 

He met the zone’s Deputy Director Zhu Min and representatives of law firms to exchange views on the zone’s legal services, the operation of Mainland and Hong Kong law firms in association, and Hong Kong's legal services in the zone.

 

He then attended a seminar on legal co-operation and exchanges between the Mainland and Hong Kong.

 

Fifty Hong Kong law students, who participated in a summer internship programme organised by the Legal Education Fund also attended the seminar.

 

The students studied at the China University of Political Science & Law in Beijing and visited government authorities for the past six weeks. They also worked as interns in courts in Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou.

 

Mr Yuen attended the internship programme's graduation ceremony.
