Chief Executive CY Leung today urged the Legislative Council Finance Committee to approve funding applications for the Government's livelihood initiatives before the council breaks for the summer recess.
Speaking to reporters ahead of an Executive Council meeting this morning, Mr Leung said he was disappointed the Finance Committee could only scrutinise two out of the 11 items put before the council, after a six-hour discussion last Friday.
He also reiterated that there was no question of the funding request for establishing an Innovation & Technology Bureau jumping the queue, as the proposal had been tabled earlier.
Mr Leung stressed that the Government had placed 11 livelihood initiatives ahead of the bureau's funding plan, as it needed to prioritise economic and livelihood issues.
