The Broadcasting Authority has fined Commercial Radio $60,000 for broadcasting an advertisement and a programme "of a political nature".
The authority ruled a universal suffrage broadcast made from April 26 to May 2 on the broadcaster's Channel 1 was of a political nature and made without approval.
As it constituted a breach of paragraph 28 of the Radio Code of Practice on Advertising Standards, the authority imposed a $30,000 fine on the station.
Two episodes of radio programme Night Rider 18 broadcast on Channels 1 and 2 on May 1 and May 8 were ruled to have the objective effect of promoting the image and interests of the sponsor and constituted "advertisements of a political nature".
It breached the Radio Code of Practice on Programme Standards and the station was fined $30,000.
Commercial Radio has accepted the ruling on both cases and decided to suspend the remaining episodes of Night Rider 18 from August 14.
