The Transport & Housing Bureau and the Estate Agents Authority today jointly held a seminar for developers and estate agents on good practices for the orderly sale of uncompleted first-hand flats.
The seminar will help staff of developers and estate agents get a better understanding of flat sales and show-flat requirements under the nine new measurements and 12 requirements which came into effect June 1.
Speakers shared with participants good practices on flat sales, to ensure sale of uncompleted first-hand flats will be conducted in a transparent, fair and orderly manner.
Developers were advised to let estate agents and the public know the property information and logistics arrangements regarding the flat sales well in advance of the commencement of sales, including the exact time for the start of sales, the sales venues and the total number of flats being offered in each batch.
Sales brochures should be made available seven days prior to flat sales, and price lists should be made available three days prior to the flat sales.
Developers are also advised to adopt a fair registration system for determining the order of priority of buyers, and efficient crowd management measures to ensure order and avoid unnecessary queuing. They were reminded at least one of the show flats must be an unmodified flat.
Estate agents were advised to provide accurate and comprehensive property information to prospective buyers. They were reminded not to take deposits without developers' authorisation, and not to engage in high pressure sales tactics.
