Respect salary-adjustment mechanism: Eva Cheng

*

Secretary for Transport & Housing Eva Cheng urges bus drivers who are not satisfied with the proposed pay-rise percentage to respect the established salary-adjustment mechanism.

She said bus companies had discussed the pay rise percentage with drivers more than 10 times since May this year, and the majority had accepted the final pay-rise proposal of 1.8%.

Ms Cheng also urged the drivers to consider the public's interest in their fight for better pay, and to express their views in a constructive way.

The Labour Department will continue to mediate between management and labour unions. The Transport Department has been monitoring the situation and co-ordinating the traffic which has been normal during the two days of industrial action.
