Safety check: Sanyo Electric (Hong Kong) Limited will provide free preventive maintenance service to four types of washing machines, including the one pictured above.

The Electrical & Mechanical Services Department today advised consumers using four models of Sanyo Electric washing machines to approach the supplier to arrange free preventive maintenance services.

The model numbers are ASW-F100AT, ASW-F95AT, ASW-F98AP and ASW-F95AP.

According to Sanyo Electric (Hong Kong) Limited, the internal motor power cables of these washing machines may be damaged after prolonged use, posing the risk of an electric short circuit.

The washing machines were supplied to the local market between June 2007 and January 2009. Should abnormalities be found in operating the washing machines, such as nuisance tripping of the associated miniature circuit breaker, consumers are advised to stop using the machines and contact the suppliers immediately.

The supplier has initiated voluntary free preventive maintenance services for affected consumers. Safety notices announcing the free maintenance services are posted in newspapers today and tomorrow.
