Inspiration Lake to open August 16

*
TD press conference

Control panel: Transport and Police officers announce traffic and crowd control measures for Penny's Bay.

*

The Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre and transport infrastructure in Penny's Bay will open August 16, with six bus routes to Hong Kong Disneyland in service.

Acting Deputy Commissioner for Transport Stephen Ip said the infrastructure includes roads, the Disneyland Resort Public Transport Interchange, car and coach parks and Disneyland Resort Pier.

Special traffic arrangements will be implemented August 16 to ensure smooth traffic flow to the recreation centre. Roads in Penny's Bay will be no-stopping zones and drop-off areas will be temporarily closed.

Six franchised bus routes - R8, R11, R21, R22, R33, R42 - will operate from Lantau Link Toll Plaza and Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre, Hung Hom, Yau Tong, North Point, Tuen Mun and Tai Wai to Hong Kong Disneyland. Fares range from $3 to $38. Taxi and non-franchised bus services are also available.

The KCRC will operate a 'rail-bus' service for Mainland visitors to travel between the Lo Wu Control Point and Hong Kong Disneyland via Sheung Shui. Sixty additional quotas have been issued for cross-boundary coach services to and from Disneyland via Lok Ma Chau Control Point. The services start in September.

Traffic, crowd control

Acting Police Senior Superintendent Lo Suk-ching said Hong Kong Disneyland starts rehearsal days from August 16, during which only holders of admission tickets can enter the park.

However, he urged non-ticket holders to stay away. Crowd control measures will be implemented, with one-lane pedestrian flow on the section of Park Promenade between MTR Disneyland Resort Line Station and the Hong Kong Disneyland entrance. The whole road section will accommodate 27,000 people. Visitors to the park will be separated from visitors to other public facilities.

People should use public transport to visit the park, while drivers should pay heed to traffic conditions and notices.

A joint command centre will be operated to monitor transport and crowd conditions, and co-ordinate relief measures.

The Tourism Commission and Transport Department will print 300,000 booklets on the opening arrangements for distribution to tourists and the public. Details of transport arrangements are also available here or here. For enquiries call 2804 2600.
