Gov't firm on Pearl River Delta bridge
*

The Government is determined to build the proposed bridge linking Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai, Secretary for Environment, Transport & Works Sarah Liao said today.

Speaking on an RTHK talk show, Dr Liao said the bridge will play an important role in Hong Kong's development and the Government is firm on implementing the project.

On funding, she added it is Government policy to encourage the private sector to participate in infrastructure projects.

Meanwhile, an initial proposal on the public transport fare mechanism will be out around Lunar New Year.

Dr Liao said she hopes that the mechanism can help reflect transport operators' performance and minimise debate over fare adjustments.

Dr Liao also said a proposal to dismantle noise barriers on Tolo Highway will be tabled at the Legislative Council for discussion.
