36 pollution convictions recorded in July

Environmental Protection Department

Thirty-six convictions were recorded in July for breaches of legislation the Environmental Protection Department enforces.

 

Sixteen convictions were for air pollution, seven for noise, 11 for improper waste disposal and two for water pollution.

 

The heaviest fine in July was $40,000, assessed against a company for importing controlled waste without a permit.
