Coral tree in San Po Kong removed
*
Leisure & Cultural Services Department

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department has removed a decaying coral tree at San Po Kong interchange in Wong Tai Sin as it was in danger of collapsing.

The Erythrina Gall Wasp had attacked the 14-metre-tall tree - which was on the Register of Old and Valuable Trees - since 2006. The department had inspected the tree regularly and taken remedial measures.

In April, they found the tree's supporting root system was decaying and it had serious cracks in its trunk.
