March sees 30 pollution convictions

Environmental Protection Department

The Environmental Protection Department recorded 30 convictions in March for breaches of anti-pollution legislation.

 

There were 11 convictions for waste disposal, nine for noise, seven for air pollution, one for water pollution and one for hazardous chemicals.

 

The heaviest fine of $30,000 was meted out to a company for failing to comply with noise abatement notice requirements.
