Minor tremor rattles Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Observatory recorded a minor earth tremor at 8:20am today.

 

Several local residents reported to have felt this tremor, which lasted several seconds. The tremor's intensity was estimated to be II on the Modified Mercalli Scale of XII.

 

Preliminary analysis placed the epicentre of the earthquake in Taiwan, about 29 kilometres west-northwest of Taitung. Its magnitude was estimated to be 6.4 on the Richter Scale.
