Environmental Protection Department

Thirty-one pollution convictions were meted out last month, the Environmental Protection Department said today.

Nine cases were for air pollution, eight for waste disposal, eight for water pollution, five for noise control and one for dumping at sea.

The heaviest fine was $75,000, levied against a company that exported controlled waste without a permit.
