The Social Welfare Department is inviting applications for admission to a two-year full-time enrolled nurse (general) or (psychiatric) training programme.
It has commissioned the Hospital Authority to provide the programme to alleviate nurse shortages and enhance the quality of care. Two classes with 220 training places will be provided from November 1 to February 7.
The programme will prepare graduates to become competent, caring professional nurses through strong clinical and practical emphasis on providing healthcare for clients in the sector.
Subjects covered include personal and communal health, psychology, first aid and emergency care, food and nutrition, medical and surgical nursing, pharmacology, geriatric nursing, psychiatry and related nursing. Training will be conducted in the authority's nursing schools, with clinical placement arranged in public hospitals and welfare settings.
Applicants should be aged 18 or above when the training starts and have completed secondary school Form 5 education in Hong Kong or equivalent. Priority will be given to those who are now working full time in non-governmental or private organisations providing elderly, rehabilitation, family and childcare, youth or correctional services.
The department will fully subsidise each trainee with tuition fees of $50,000 for the whole course. Applications close June 30. Click here for the application guide and forms. For enquiries call 2110 1495.
