Rational dialogue urged in labour dispute
*
Labour Department

Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung has expressed concern over the industrial dispute triggered by a group of steel workers calling for a pay rise. He called for rational dialogue to resolve the situation.

The Labour Department has been mediating and hopes both sides can reach an agreement.

"The employers' association and the trade union have agreed to continue with the discussion on Monday. I hope the workers will wait patiently for the outcome of the meeting," Mr Cheung said.

He urged the workers to exercise restraint and seek improvements in their labour benefits through lawful and peaceful means. They should not disrupt public order or cause inconvenience to the public when expressing their views.
