Eastern Magistracy has fined an employment agency $14,200 for unlicensed operation and overcharging two job seekers.
XPAT Domestic was found to have started business before getting a licence. It collected a $295 registration fee from job seekers and demanded they pay several thousand dollars for placement services.
The Labour Department reminds agencies to comply with the law. Enquiries or complaints against unlicensed operation or overcharging by agencies can be made on 2852 3535.
