Unlicensed employment agent fined
*
Labour Department

An unlicensed employment agency operator has been fined $12,000 at the Eastern Magistrates' Court for breaching the Employment Ordinance.

Angilyn Movilla was charged for operating an employment agency without a licence. She was prosecuted by the Labour Department.

Anyone who intends to operate an employment agency must apply for a licence and comply with the Employment Ordinance and the Employment Agency Regulations, whether the employment is in or outside Hong Kong.

Job-seekers are reminded to ensure that the employment agency is licensed when they seek employment through its service, regardless of whether the employment is in or outside Hong Kong.

For enquiries or complaints against employment agencies, please call the department's Employment Agencies Administration on 2852 3535, or visit its office at 12th floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central.
