Parents of Primary 6 students participating in the 2005-07 Secondary School Places Allocation System will receive an information leaflet and VCD soon, the Education & Manpower Bureau says.
Their choice of schools will rise from this allocation cycle. At the Discretionary Places stage, the quota has grown to 30% for each secondary school. Parents are allowed to apply for Secondary 1 places to any two secondary schools participating in the system, irrespective of school nets.
At the Central Allocation stage, allocation unrestricted by school nets is introduced, and parents can choose a maximum of three secondary schools from any school nets. Within their children's own net, parents can still choose a maximum of 30 secondary schools.
All government, aided and caput schools as well as Direct Subsidy Scheme schools participating in the system will accept discretionary place applications from December 28 to January 29.
Two copies of the S1 Discretionary Place application form will be distributed to each P6 student through their school by the end of November for discretionary place applications to two participating schools.
The leaflet and VCD have been uploaded on the bureau's website.
