Parents of Primary 6 students participating in the 2005-2007 Secondary School Places Allocation System will receive two application forms for Secondary 1 discretionary places through their child's schools soon, the Education & Manpower Bureau says.
For students not studying in participating primary schools, they can obtain the forms from the bureau's School Places Allocation Section.
Parents wishing to apply for a Secondary 1 discretionary place have to use the application forms provided. Completed forms should be submitted directly to schools between December 28 and January 29.
The schools applied to are not restricted by school nets. However, parents should consider the schools in all respects so as to make a suitable choice.
Application rules
From this allocation cycle, parents have two school choices at the discretionary place stage. School preference '1' on the application form stands for student's first choice, and school preference '2' stands for student's second choice.
Under all circumstances, schools must not ask people to disclose their order of preference. Parents can submit no more than two applications.
The handbook on applying for Secondary 1 discretionary places will be distributed to primary schools and uploaded to the bureau's website. For enquiries call 2832 7740 or 2832 7700.
