The Commissioner for Labour will be empowered to recognise training courses for operators of five more types of loadshifting machines from September 1 under the Factories & Industrial Undertakings (Loadshifting Machinery) Regulation.
The machines include compactors, dumpers, graders, locomotives and scrapers, which are used on construction sites.
Organisations interested in running training courses for these machine types should submit their applications as soon as possible.
The department said after enough operators have been trained and issued with certificates, it will consider putting into effect the provision for these machines to be operated only by people with valid certificates.
At present six types of loadshifting machines must be operated by people with a valid certificate. They include fork-lift trucks, bulldozers, loaders, excavators, trucks and lorries.
