An employer has been jailed for two months for failing to secure an insurance policy for an employee as required by law, the Labour Department says.
In December, 2004, the department found employer Richard Tse failed to take out an insurance policy for an employee. He was prosecuted in December last year, fined $10,000 and sentenced to two months' jail, suspended for two years.
A follow-up inspection after the sentence unveiled Tse had still not secured an insurance policy for the employee. The department launched another prosecution and Tse pleaded guilty at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today.
