Leading employers including Monetary Authority Chief Executive Joseph Yam, PCCW Chairman Richard Li and G2000 Group Chairman Michael Tien are appearing in a new promotion of the Workplace English Campaign.
Under the theme of 'Let's Learn and Live', the publicity drive features a television announcement in the public interest (API), a radio programme and posters.
In the API, the three employers will share their views on enriching one's life with better English proficiency and their expectations of the working population's English standards.
A radio programme will be launched tomorrow on Commercial Radio 1 in which representatives from some of the successful applicants of the Funding Scheme for Workplace English Training will share their experience.
25,000 working adults sponsored
Launched in 2000, the campaign's funding scheme has sponsored about 25,000 working adults, allowing them to receive training and attain relevant Hong Kong Workplace English Benchmarks for their job type.
Since 2005, the scheme has been focusing on supporting employers in the provision of in-house tailor-made English training for their employees and the number of applicants has been growing.
At the end of January, the scheme had received more than 150 applications for subsidies on such training, involving funding amounting to nearly $2.5 million.
