The top three works will be displayed in the authority's Information Centre until March 4. They will then be displayed with other winning entries in the public areas of the authority's offices at 2 International Finance Centre in Central.
The competition is one of the authority's community programmes promoting awareness of Hong Kong's financial system.
Students were invited to show their creativity by creating pictures of any subject using images of coins currently or previously in circulation in Hong Kong.
The authority's Chief Executive Joseph Yam said the response was positive and impressive.
