Young people and job-seekers are invited to visit the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council exhibition booth at the Education & Careers Expo 2006 to get a better understanding of the career opportunities of the maritime services cluster and the related training programmes.
Jointly organised by the Labour Department and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the exhibition will be held at Hall 5, in the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from February 23 to 26. Admission is free.
The booth will give a comprehensive picture of maritime-industry jobs in Hong Kong, from sea-going careers, ship management, ship finance, marine insurance, maritime arbitration, ship broking to maritime law.
It also features the career opportunities and prospects of the maritime sectors, as well as maritime-related education programmes offered by Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Maritime Services Training Institute of the Vocational Training Council and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi).
A video on the training requirements and career paths of seafaring will also be on show.
A sea-going career talk will be held in the afternoon of February 26. A representative of the Maritime Professionals Promotion Federation and two ship cadets will share their experience with the participants.
