Student guidance service to be enhanced
*

Student guidance staff or service grants provided to primary schools will be improved from the 2006-07 school year, the Education & Manpower Bureau says.

One student guidance staff or one student guidance service grant unit - currently amounting to $417,330 each year - is provided to each primary school with 24 classes or more. Schools with five to 23 classes are each provided with half that grant amount.

From the 2006-07 school year, each school with 18 classes or more will be offered one student guidance personnel or one student guidance service grant unit.

The bureau is spending $210 million on student guidance service in this current school year. The enhancement will cost an additional $21 million in the 2006-07 school year.
