Teachers' workload body holds pre-meeting
*

The Committee on Teachers' Work has held a pre-meeting as the first step to map out its way forward to study teachers' workload and make recommendations for improvement.

At its meeting today, the committee met members of school councils, teacher associations, school heads, teachers, academics and professionals from related fields.

"We understand both the school sector and the general public have high expectations of the committee. We pledge we will look into teachers' work from an independent perspective and make recommendations to the Education & Manpower Bureau as soon as practical," Committee chairman Edmond Ko said.

"The committee will focus on issues related to teachers' work at the school level and will meet with members of the education sector, teachers and school heads in particular, and invite them to join an advisory group."

Prof Ko called on the sector to support the committee's work and looked forward to exchanges with them through different channels in the coming months.

Apart from Prof Kok, the committee's members are Prof Wing Yun-kwok, Dr Cheung Kwok-wah, Lai Kam-tong, Dr Ko Wing-man, Lina Yan and David Pao.
