Six Hong Kong secondary students have won two silvers and four bronzes in the China Mathematical Olympiad 2006, the best achievement ever for Hong Kong in the competition.

The two silver winners were SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School's Fong Pok-wai and Queen Elizabeth School's Chung On-yip. The bronze winners included Queen's College's Yuen Chak-hei, Jack Hui, and Lee Pak-hin, as well as St Joseph's College's Wong Chiu-wai.

Organised by the China Mathematical Society Olympiad Committee and Fuzhou No. 1 Middle School, the competition ran from January 10 to 15 in Fuzhou, Fujian. A total of 151 mathematically gifted secondary students from 34 teams participated in the game.

Hong Kong, Macau and Russia were invited to join provinces of China to vie for the awards.
