The exhibition for the 6th Inter-School Stamp Exhibits Competition will be held at the Museum of History from March 24 to 28.
Organised by Hongkong Post, with support from the Education & Manpower Bureau and the museum, the competition aims to promote philately.
Postmaster General Allan Chiang said every stamp has its own story, while the process of producing a stamp exhibit requires research, writing and presentation skills that put young participants in touch with a world of discovery.
"This is without doubt a healthy and educational activity for students, whether they are stamp collectors or not," he said.
A wide range of related activities will also be organised, including photo sessions with Snoopy the Philatelic Ambassador, philatelic workshops, guided tours, and displays of postal motorcycles, bicycles and post boxes.
March 18 registration
The exhibition will open to the public, from 1pm to 6 pm on March 24, and from 10am to 7pm from March 25 to 28.
The $10 admission fee can be waived for pre-registered visiting groups. Call Hongkong Post at 2921 6025 or download the pre-registration form here before March 18.
To commemorate the event, Hongkong Post will issue a souvenir cover and make available a special postmark on March 24. A commemorative cachet for stamping covers will also be available March 24 to 28.
Souvenir covers will be sold at $2 each at 39 philatelic offices March 10 to 24, while serviced souvenir covers with the special postmark, at $5.90 each, will be available for sale and a hand-back datestamping service for official and privately made covers will be offered on March 24.
