Permanent Secretary for Education & Manpower Fanny Law today launched the three-day Quality Education Fund Projects Exposition 2005 and the Teachers' Professional Experience Sharing Month 2005 at the Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The expo showcases the achievements of the Quality Education Fund, which since its establishment in 1998 has spent $3 billion to fund more than 5,200 projects. It has benefited more than 370 organisations, 460 secondary schools, 600 primary schools, 75 special schools and 280 kindergartens and child care centres.
The theme for this year's exposition is "collaborate for pedagogic innovation, cultivate for quality education", featuring achievements of funded projects and providing a platform for the education profession to share their teaching experiences.
More than 100 booths under five different themes of all-round education, pre-primary education, effective learning, IT in education and digital learning resources are on display.
Teaching demonstrations
Apart from keynote speeches, forums, sharing sessions and student performances, there are 10 sessions of teaching demonstrations to showcase the latest pedagogies and how information technology could be applied to enhance teaching quality and efficiency.
The fund, targeted to provide incentives to schools and educators in recognition of their innovative efforts and the pursuit of excellence, encourages them to seek additional resources outside the regular provisions for improving school management, developing all-around education and implementing pilot schemes on innovative curriculum or teaching methods.
