HKCEE results to be released Wednesday
*

HK Certificate of Education Examination results will be released on August 6. Some 24,500 Secondary Six places will be offered by the Government, aided and other schools.

The Secondary 6 Admission Procedure will begin the day examination results are released.

Under the five-stage admission procedure, candidates with 14 points or more from the best six subjects in one sitting of the examination should apply to their own or linked schools in Stage I (morning of August 6) or apply to other schools in Stage II (afternoon of August 6 and morning of August 7).

Candidates who satisfy the minimum A-level entry requirements should apply to their own or linked schools in Stage III (afternoon of August 7) or apply to other schools in Stage IV (August 8).

For non-current year candidates who have 14 points or more from the best six subjects in one sitting of HKCEE may apply to schools in Stage II (afternoon of August 6 and morning of August 7), and those who satisfy the minimum A-level entry requirements may only apply in Stage IV (August 8).

Meanwhile, those current year participants who satisfy the minimum A-Level entry requirements but still have not secured an S6 place in Stages I to IV can apply for Central Allocation in Stage V.

To allow more time for students to apply to other schools, the operation of Session I of Stage II (afternoon of August 6) will be extended by half an hour (from 2pm-5pm).

As in previous years, a number of Joint Admission Centres will be in operation. Admission arrangements at the Joint Admission Centres are available on the Education & Manpower Bureau's homepage.

Vacancy information available online

To help students apply to other schools in Stages II and IV, the bureau will release S6 vacancy information on the Internet (http://embs6.hkbn.net) and by the Interactive Voice Response telephone hotline system at 3560 6888.

Vacancy information will also be displayed at all Regional Education Offices at the beginning of each session of Stage II and IV. All secondary schools are advised to make their vacancy information available to students for reference.

For enquiries about the admission procedure, students can call the central hotline (2116 0533, 2116 0534, 2122 5830) between August 4 and August 13.

They can also contact Regional Education Offices for assistance.
