CE to focus on stemming virus woes

*

Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa says he will focus all his efforts on handling the adversity caused by atypical pneumonia.

Speaking to the media after returning from Bangkok, Mr Tung said it is unacceptable that there are still some healthcare workers infected with the disease.

The Government aims to reduce the number of medical workers getting the virus to zero and turn the new cases figure to a "single digit" number, he added.

Turning to the Special ASEAN-China Leaders Meeting, Mr Tung said all representatives reached consensus in a number of areas, including enhancing boundary quarantine measures and revitalising the area's tourism.

During his stay, Mr Tung also discussed with World Health Organisation representatives its travel warning against Hong Kong.

The organisation endorsed Hong Kong's measures against the disease, Mr Tung said, adding that the Government will stay in close contact with it.
