Mutual co-operation is vital in stopping the atypical pneumonia spread, Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa stressed today, adding that the Government will do its best to contain the virus.
Speaking in Bangkok, Mr Tung said he had a good discussion with World Health Organisation officials who commended Hong Kong's efforts in containing the spread of the virus in the past few weeks.
He said our measures in fighting it are proving effective, such as temperature checks at immigration checkpoints.
Mr Tung said atypical pneumonia is a public enemy and mutual co-operation is vital in stopping it.
Mr Tung also met with the Singaporean Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong to exchange views on battling the disease, and said Hong Kong will work closely with the city-state in this respect.
